The best ChatGPT apps for customer feedback

Short answer. Install the app for the tool your feedback already lives in, because each ChatGPT app answers from one vendor's data. If you run a Canny board, Canny's app reads and updates ideas from the chat on Pro and Business plans. For feedback a platform has already gathered and analyzed, Enterpret, Unwrap, and BuildBetter answer questions about themes, trends, and customer quotes. Modem groups feedback from chat, support inboxes, and issue trackers into topics, and its app can also reprioritize those topics and merge duplicate records. Pylon covers a support queue, and Linear and Atlassian cover the tracker where feedback turns into issues.

Every app below is listed in ChatGPT's public plugin directory, which we checked on October 4, 2026, from a signed-out browser. OpenAI's help center describes a plugin as the installable package and the app as the connection to an outside service, so you browse plugins and connect apps. The directory you see after signing in depends on your plan and workspace.

We build Modem, one of the ten apps here. Each entry links to its directory listing so you can check the developer and description yourself, and plan requirements come from each vendor's own documentation.

What to compare before you install one

  • Where the feedback lives. An app answers from its vendor's data and nothing else. Canny's app sees board posts, and Pylon's sees support issues. When feedback is scattered across tools, pick a platform that already gathers from those tools, or expect to ask several apps the same question.
  • Whether it writes back. Some apps only answer. Others change records in the vendor's tool, which matters if you want a chat to end with a status updated or a duplicate merged.
  • Who built it. Nine of the ten listings come from the vendor. OpenAI built the Zendesk app and labels it Beta.
  • What your plans allow. OpenAI says installing a plugin depends on your ChatGPT plan, workspace, role, and region. Business workspaces have apps on by default, while Enterprise and Edu workspaces start with a selected set. Some vendors add their own plan or seat requirements, noted in their entries.

Whatever an app can do, it acts with the permissions of the account you connect. OpenAI's plugin documentation says a plugin can't reach content outside what that account or an administrator-managed source can access.

Directory apps and Developer mode are different installs

A directory app is listed by OpenAI, and anyone whose plan and workspace allow it can install it from the Plugins page and connect with a sign-in. A vendor with an MCP server but no listing can still be added as a custom MCP app, using what OpenAI calls Developer mode.

That second route is narrower. OpenAI's Developer mode documentation limits it to Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces on ChatGPT web. On Business, only admins and owners can turn it on and publish the app.

Two feedback tools are in that position as of October 2026. Productboard documents an official MCP server and gives steps for adding it in ChatGPT. Featurebase documents an MCP server on all paid plans and names ChatGPT among compatible clients. Neither has a listing in the plugin directory.

For a feedback board

Canny

Canny's app reaches the board, including ideas, the insights attached to them, and the companies behind them. Ask for your top feature requests by ARR, or which companies are attached to each in-progress idea.

It writes as well. Send it a call transcript or support ticket and Canny's Autopilot captures and dedupes the feedback. From the same chat you can update statuses and custom fields, or link Salesforce opportunities and HubSpot deals to ideas.

Canny's help center says the connector needs the Pro or Business plan with Canny Ideas turned on. An Owner connects first, then any teammate can authorize their own connection, and deleting or merging ideas stays with Managers and Owners.

Pick it when a Canny board is already where requests land. Requests that arrive in Slack or support threads reach it only if someone posts them to the board or sends them through Autopilot. Our Canny alternatives guide covers other setups.

For feedback analyzed across sources

These four apps answer from platforms that gather and analyze feedback before you ask. For a closer look at the first three platforms, see Enterpret vs Unwrap vs BuildBetter.

Enterpret

Enterpret's app queries feedback Enterpret has already gathered from support tickets, sales calls, app reviews, surveys, and Slack. Ask for complaint trends, feature requests within one segment, or direct customer quotes. Answers link back to the source records, so you can check a number before repeating it in a planning doc.

The listing describes questions and answers, and says nothing about editing data in Enterpret.

Pick it when your company already runs Enterpret and the questions are quantitative.

Unwrap

Unwrap's app searches the themes and anecdotes Unwrap has pulled from your feedback and plots how they trend, filtered by metadata. One of its suggested prompts charts login issues over the last 90 days. Unwrap's MCP announcement says all twelve of its tools are read-only.

Pick it when you want charts of issue volume in the chat and a read-only connection suits you.

BuildBetter

BuildBetter's app looks for product and customer evidence across signals, call transcripts, documents, knowledge pages, and people in your BuildBetter workspace. The BuildBetter MCP documentation lists ChatGPT as a supported client.

Pick it when most of your feedback starts as recorded calls that BuildBetter already transcribes.

Modem

Modem reads the customer feedback your team already collects in chat, support inboxes, and issue trackers, and groups related reports into topics, people, and companies. Each topic links to the work that resolves it, such as a Linear issue or a GitHub or GitLab pull request. In ChatGPT you search that data in natural language and can run the Modem Agent.

You can also change things from the chat. Reprioritize topics or merge duplicate companies and people, and update customer records the same way. Search access and agent or write access are granted separately when you connect over OAuth. Write tools act under the role you already have in Modem, so the app can't do anything you couldn't do in Modem yourself. Modem's search tool doesn't run the agent or use agent credits.

Modem answers only from the sources your organization has connected, and the app requires a Modem account. The same data reaches Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients through Modem's MCP server. The launch post, Add Modem to ChatGPT, has a setup video and example workflows.

Pick it when feedback arrives in several tools and you want ChatGPT to triage topics as well as summarize them. Skip it when all your feedback sits in one tool that has its own app, like a Canny board or a Pylon queue.

For a research repository

Dovetail

Dovetail's app searches your research repository and brings projects, notes, docs, themes, and customer highlights into the chat. That helps when a PRD or roadmap discussion needs evidence from interviews. Dovetail announced the connector on March 25, 2026, and its ChatGPT docs describe connecting with an OAuth sign-in and no server setup.

Pick it when a research team keeps interviews and calls in Dovetail. Dovetail vs Enterpret vs Notably compares the platforms.

For the support queue

Pylon

Pylon's app works the support queue from the chat. Ask which assigned issues need a response, or for a summary of one account's recent issues with escalations flagged. It can also mark an issue resolved and add a note. Pylon's connection guide says you need a Member or Admin seat, and Viewer seats can't authenticate.

Pick it when your B2B support runs in Pylon and the person asking questions also handles issues.

Zendesk (Beta)

OpenAI built the Zendesk app in the directory, and it's labeled Beta at version 0.1.0. It covers Zendesk Support, Guide, Talk, and public Status, and the listing marks it Interactive, Read, and Write. Its suggested prompt investigates tickets and customer context and updates Zendesk only when asked.

Pick it when you run Zendesk and accept beta behavior. To group Zendesk tickets with feedback from other tools, see our Zendesk ticket mining guide.

For the tracker where feedback becomes issues

Linear

Linear's app reads and writes issues, projects, and initiatives, and its listing says it can analyze customer requests and draft PRDs. It runs on Linear's MCP server at mcp.linear.app.

Pick it when feedback already reaches Linear as issues or customer requests. It works on what's in Linear, so something upstream still has to put feedback there. Our Linear guide compares the tools that do.

Atlassian (Jira)

Atlassian's app covers Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Loom. In Jira it creates tickets and edits existing ones, status included. It also ships skills, including ones named triage-issue and spec-to-backlog. Searching the directory for Jira also turns up an older Atlassian Rovo (Legacy) listing; the link here goes to the current Atlassian app.

Pick it when your team files feedback as Jira tickets. The Jira guide covers getting feedback into Jira in the first place.

Other listings that reach customer conversations

Three more apps touch customer feedback without being feedback tools. Gong brings call insights such as objections, risks, and next steps into ChatGPT. HubSpot reads and writes CRM records, tickets included. Aha! covers product plans and lists summarizing last week's customer feedback among its example prompts.

Set up Modem in ChatGPT in three steps

  1. Open Modem in ChatGPT. Go to the plugin listing, or choose Plugins and search for Modem.
  2. Install and connect. Select the install button (+), sign in to Modem, and authorize the connection.
  3. Start a chat. Type @ and choose Modem, then ask your question.

Start with a question you would otherwise answer by clicking through a dashboard. This illustrative prompt is the one from our launch walkthrough, and the answer comes from your own workspace:

Summarize the three highest-priority open topics and who's affected.

Pick by where the feedback lives today

  • On one board or in one queue. Install that vendor's app. Canny for a board, Pylon for a B2B support queue, or the Zendesk beta if you run Zendesk.
  • Across support, calls, reviews, and chat. Use the app of the platform that already gathers it. Enterpret, Unwrap, and BuildBetter answer analysis questions, and Modem can also reprioritize and merge what it finds.
  • Already filed as issues. Linear or Atlassian, matching your tracker.
  • In Productboard or Featurebase. Neither has a directory listing, so you need a Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspace and an admin willing to add the vendor's MCP server through Developer mode.

Then check the write path. If you want a conversation to end with a status changed or a duplicate merged, pick an app whose listing or docs describe write actions. FAQ

Is a ChatGPT plugin the same as a ChatGPT app?

OpenAI's help center describes an app as the connection to an outside service such as Slack, and a plugin as the package you install, which can contain one or more apps, skills, or both. The directory you browse is the plugin directory, and each listing names the app inside it.

Can I connect a feedback tool that isn't in the plugin directory?

Yes, if the vendor runs an MCP server and your workspace allows Developer mode. OpenAI offers Developer mode on Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces on ChatGPT web, and on Business only admins and owners can turn it on. Productboard and Featurebase both document MCP servers and name ChatGPT as a client.

Which ChatGPT apps can change data in my feedback tool?

Canny, Modem, Pylon, Linear, and Atlassian describe write actions in their listings or docs, and the Zendesk (Beta) listing marks write capability. Enterpret, BuildBetter, and Dovetail describe searching and analysis, and Unwrap says its tools are read-only. Every app acts with the permissions of the account you connect.

Do these apps work on the free ChatGPT plan?

OpenAI says the plugin directory is available on every ChatGPT plan, but installing a given plugin depends on your plan, workspace, role, and region. Each app also connects to your account with its vendor, and some vendors gate access by plan. Canny's app, for example, requires Canny's Pro or Business plan.
