Same graph either way
Our agent and yours read the same topics, people, companies, quotes, and linked work, under the same role checks. Your agent can even hand a task to ours through MCP.
Where can I use the Modem agent?
In the Modem dashboard, as a full page or as a sidebar that knows the page you are on. In Slack, by DM, by @mention in a channel, or in the assistant pane. In Discord, by mentioning @Modem in a channel, which opens a thread for the conversation. The Discord bot does not take direct messages. In Microsoft Teams, by mentioning @Modem in a channel or a chat.
Who can talk to the Modem agent in Slack and Discord?
Members of your Modem organization who have linked their Slack or Discord account. In Discord the bot stays silent for everyone else. In Slack, an admin can let workspace members join the organization by linking their account.
Which agents can connect to Modem?
Any MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers with OAuth. Setup steps are documented for Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Codex, opencode, and ChatGPT. The server runs at https://mcp.modem.dev/mcp. Modem also has official plugins in the Claude Connectors Directory, the Cursor Marketplace, and the ChatGPT plugin directory.
Do I need an API key to connect my agent?
Not for MCP. It uses OAuth, so your client opens a browser window where you approve access to one Modem organization. The CLI is different: modem auth login walks you through creating an API key in the dashboard and pasting it into the terminal.
What can the Modem agent do besides answer questions?
It can create Linear, Jira, and GitHub issues, post to Slack, send email to members of your organization, hand coding tasks to Claude Code, Cursor, or Devin, and run on a schedule or when an event happens. Writes are checked against your role, and in Slack and, by default, in the dashboard, coding agent tasks wait for your approval.
